Scope of services:

• Lead and mentor a team of 6-10 backend engineers, promoting collaboration, motivation, and professional growth

• Define and evolve backend platform architecture and engineering standards, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment across product squads

• Drive technical execution of platform initiatives, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with business objectives

• Own the reliability, SLAs, API contracts, and documentation of platform services consumed across multiple teams

• Remove blockers and create an environment for engineers to perform at their best

• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, DevOps, and Architects to implement future-proof platform decisions

• Promote automation, CI/CD improvements, and adoption of modern engineering practices

• Leverage AI-native tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate delivery and improve code quality

• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to stakeholders and leadership

Here’s a set of skills we require:

• 5+ years hands-on software engineering experience in backend development (Java or JVM-based languages)

• 3+ years experience leading backend or platform engineering teams

• Strong technical foundation in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and API design

• Solid experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices

• Deep understanding of platform concerns: service reliability, observability, and API governance

• Experience in fintech or payments domain is a plus

• Proven ability to hire, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent

• Hands-on experience in agile development environments

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have:

• Experience shaping engineering culture and mentoring teams at scale

• Exposure to high-availability, high-traffic production environments

• Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy systems

• Active usage of AI-assisted development workflows
